Harry M. Markowitz, Ph.D.
A Nobel Prize Winner for his work on portfolio selection, Dr. Markowitz is a professor of finance in the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and is considered the father of modern portfolio theory.
Meir Statman, Ph.D.
The Glenn Klimek Professor of Finance at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, Dr. Statman’s research has been published in the Journal of Finance, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Portfolio Management, and many others.
President & Chief Executive Officer
Alex is the President and CEO of Loring Ward Group Inc. and of the SA Funds – Investment Trust. Previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer of LWI Financial Inc. Potts earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Santa Clara University.
John T. Scruggs, PhD
Vice President of Research
John is responsible for conducting original research and employing insights from financial research to serve Loring Ward advisors and clients. Dr. Scruggs received his PhD and MBA from the University of Washington, and his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy.
Sheldon P. McFarland
Vice President, Portfolio Strategy & Research
Sheldon‘s responsibilities include management of the Portfolio Strategy Group, oversight of the Investment Planning Center, and development of tools to support Advisors. He earned his MBA from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from BYU.
Matthew J. Carvalho, CFA, CFP®®
Director, Investment Research
Matthew communicates the firm’s investment philosophy directly to Advisors and clients. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from University of the Pacific, and earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®®) designations.
