Hiring Hendershott Wealth Management was the best decision I made for both my finances and my marriage. My husband and I had been having the same argument over and over. I wanted to save for the future and he said we couldn't because we needed to worry about paying our bills and paying off our debt. Our fights would get bad and we wouldn't be able to compromise or listen to each other. We couldn't connect, enjoy each others company or experience how much we loved each other when we had one of these fights. Sometimes it lasted for days and it happened every month.

After hiring Hendershott Wealth Management, our first meeting was like the marriage counseling session we didn't know we needed. We each got to say what we were concerned about with our finances and what we hoped for in the future. After that, our fiduciary worked with us together to get us on the same page financially so we could address both our concerns and build for the future.

Hilary is at the top of the game, with a plethora of resources including her Profit Boss Radio podcast. Hilary is trustworthy, highly professional and is gifted at the craft of managing wealth. She is not just your average financial advisor; she goes above and beyond and can also act as a fiduciary, putting her clients' interests first at every turn. Top Notch Wealth Management Team!!! I have been a client of Hilary Hendershott for many years. Her wealth management team provides excellent service. You would expect nothing less than top stars when your money is managed! So let me specifically shout out to Jen on her team - Jen gets the tasks done, timely and CORRECT! But better yet, every time I have made adjustments or transacted business - I LEARN from Jen! And she explains easily the how and why's of what is being done. Not just sign this form or do this, but providing details. Anyone would want such service and details when handling YOUR money. Hilary provides the strategy and her team provides the service! I first knew about Hilary from her AMAZING podcast, Profit Boss Radio. She is so knowledgeable and having listed to her for over a year I just trusted her to give me the best advice for me. She is no BS, will tell it like it is but it is always so you are making the best decisions for yourself, and teaching, not telling. Her team is also amazing, any time I have reached out I have received an answer so quickly, with good information. I feel like working with Hilary is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and listening to her podcast gives me the tools to understand what is happening with current events and be very well informed. I have forwarded an episode on to someone who is dealing with the topic she is covering SO many times and they have always thanked me. I cannot recommend her enough.

And by the way - I'm on the other side of the country so don't let not being local stop you from working with her. One day we will meet in person and it will be magical. :) Until then, my money is in the best hands in the business.

This review is long overdue. We felt compelled to write after reading a negative review about Hilary and her team as we have experienced the complete opposite.

We interviewed at least 10 financial planners looking for someone to help us manage our finances as my husband retired. We selected Hilary because of her great reviews here and after 2 meetings, we knew she was the one for us. She impressed us with her knowledge and her positive attitude. She very articulate and intelligent and she knows her stuff.

From the beginning, we discussed how the market works (the ups and downs) and we are all on the same page. She keeps in touch with us, reassures us and gives us optimism and peace of mind with these recent downs in the market.

We are glad we found her and her amazing team and we are in it for the long run.

I started working with Hilary & Jen a few months ago. The process to on board and transfer my finances to Hendershott Wealth Management has been a very detailed and comprehensive approach to all aspects of my financial life. Their commitment to me and my financial goals has gone above my expectations and in the short time that I've been working with Hendershott, I have been impressed by the level of communication, in fact, I've spent more time talking and learning from them than I have spent in total talking to any other financial advisor over the last 20 years. They are also amazing at educating and explaining everything along the way, and in a way that I can easily digest and understand. I've always had a passive relationship with my finances and advisors and now I realize the importance of having a much more involved relationship that involves trust and shared interest in my goals.

I really wanted to like Hendershott Wealth Management. They really had the benefit of the doubt for me when we started out. I had listened to a few of Hilary's podcast episodes and loved that she catered to women and couples because so many times my wife and I would be dealing with something financial, and we'd both get the impression that the person we were dealing with would be speaking only to me and not to her. Our initial meeting with Hilary went well, and after our second meeting we got the ball rolling and started transferring assets into the accounts they set up for us. I mention this because I want everyone to know that we were probably the ideal customers for Hilary's firm. They didn't have to try too hard to sell us on going with them.

Things were going smoothly until one day, I sent Hilary an email asking what her advice would be on some stock options I had at a privately held company and how AMT would be assessed if we exercised those options. She responded that she needed a day or two to get back to me, which is totally fine. In the span of a week, this happened:
- Sunday, I email her asking the initial question
- Monday, we exchanged a few emails with ended with my asking her how AMT would factor in on a full exercise and partial sale of those options
- Tuesday, I got a reply saying she'll get me an answer in a day or two. I replied and said that would be fine, I can wait a day or two for an answer.
- Thursday, I reply and ask for an update, no answer
- Friday, I got a reply asking to get back to me on Monday or Tuesday of the following week, then later on Friday I got an email that was forwarded from the Tax prep CPA she had referred us to with a partial answer and a lot of ambiguity. I tried to call her and get a better answer, but it was Valentine's day and by the time I got off work, everyone was gone. Okay, that's fine, I'll get the answer the following Monday. It was a little troubling to learn that she was outsourcing the answer and hadn't once told us that she didn't know. She never told us to go directly to the CPA we were already referred to and were working with.

- Monday I got another email from someone in her office that attempted to clear up the ambiguity of that email. It was helpful, but didn't clear everything up so I responded and restated my original question: how is AMT calculated and how is FMV determined for a private company?
- Thursday, when I emailed again asking if there were any updates. The CPA replied to me claiming to have emailed us shortly after we emailed her on Monday. Neither me or my wife got any such email (checked our spam folder and found nothing). I replied and again restated the question as clearly as I could and got response saying Hilary was on a plane.
- Friday, I got an email from Hilary. In it, she blamed me for expecting an answer when she was "halfway around the world with [her] family and had no idea [she] needed to plan around still being available to [us]". She also accused us of needing to be better/open about communication with them (mind you, anyone else reading this email chain would not draw this conclusion). She also blamed me for not telling the CPA about this particular question, (apparently they discussed our situation without including us).

I replied to Hilary's email apologizing if I was at fault for any miscommunication and apologizing if I was bothering her on vacation with her family. In fact, I mentioned specifically in that email that I'm a big believer in disconnecting and taking time off to spend with your family. I have no expectations of a response if you're on vacation. The thing is, she never once let us know that she was going to be unavailable/out-of-the-office/on-vacation. Not once. The next email I got from her essentially said, as we were in the process of transferring a lot of our assets into her account, that she no longer wanted to work with us and thinks we should find someone else.

Wow.

So here's where we were left with Hendershott Wealth Management:
1) Hilary blames us of poor communication, when anyone with a lick of common sense reading this email chain would draw the opposite conclusion
2) Hilary blames us for bothering her when she was supposed to be on a vacation with her family that she never indicated to her clients was happening. We got no communication at all regarding any unavailability. See item 1 about poor communication.
3) She essentially cuts us loose AS OUR ASSETS ARE TRANSFERRING INTO ACCOUNTS SHE HAS ACCESS TO.
4) She never once apologized or took ownership of any of the clear mistakes that were made in handling this. I wish she'd been upfront about the limits of her knowledge. How do you trust someone who isn't upfront about what they know and what they don't? See item 1 on poor communication.

EDIT: Unfortunate that, even in her response, she still won't own up to *any* of this.

An extraordinary financial advisor that talks in plain english, and outlines key steps to raise awareness of your financial "habits" (sometimes they can be surprising when distinguished), and get into action about creating habits that benefit you.

4 months into retirement and I feel secure, and clear about my financial "health." Thanks, Hillary!

I have known Hilary for over eight years now, and we met in business school at Santa Clara University. She is (and was when we first met) an incredible advocate for investing for the long haul using a diversified portfolio tailored to a client's life goals.
